Formaldehyde Hazard Communication Training Course

The Environmental
Health and Safety (EHS) Department
has developed this training to meet the training requirements
for the OSHA Formaldehyde Standard (29 CFR 1910.1048), the
OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), as
well as formaldehyde-specific requirements of the OSHA Laboratory
Standard (29 CFR 1910.1450).
All employees with an occupational exposure
to formaldehyde (ie. formaldehyde gas, its solutions, and
materials that release formaldehyde) shall complete this on-line
training. The training shall be conducted upon initial assignment
and whenever there is a change in process or procedure. Training
will be provided at least annually for employees exposed to
formaldehyde concentrations at or above the action level (AL)
or the short term exposure limit (STEL).
How
does it work?
The training consists of the following sections:
- Introduction
- Section 1 – Scope, Regulatory Requirements, Uses
and Properties of
Formaldehyde
- Section 2 – Routes of Exposure, Health Effects,
First Aid,
Reporting Signs & Symptoms
- Section 3 – Exposure Limits, Air Monitoring, Engineering
& Work Practice
Controls, Personal Protective Equipment, Regulated Areas
- Section 4 – Emergency Equipment, Emergency Response,
Disposal
- Section 5 – Medical Surveillance
- Section 6 – Information & Training, Labeling,
MSDS, Recordkeeping
The user will read the information
on each page and move from one page to another. After each
section, there is a short quiz to verify that you have completed
the training and understand its contents. You must answer
at least 75% of the questions correctly to receive credit
for the training. Upon completion of all sections and the
quiz, your compliance with training requirements will be updated
in our database.
