The IUPUI
Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) has developed this training
to ensure a safe work environment and to protect the health and safety of
IUPUI faculty, staff, and researchers who work with hazardous materials,
or who work in a lab which generates chemical waste.
You will complete the four sections of this training module and answer quiz
questions. Section 3 of the training covers the IUPUI Mercury Elimination
Program. The deadline for this program is December 31, 2007. Therefore,
there are no quiz questions pertaining to Section 3 of the training.
How does it work?
The Safely Managing Hazardous Materials training module consists of the
following sections:
- Section 1 - Introduction, Environmental Regulations, Definition of
hazardous waste
- Section 2 - EHS waste disposal guidelines
- Section 3 - Mercury Elimination Program
- Section 4 - Handling chemical spills
The training module is narrated, so ensure that your speakers are adjusted
to an appropriate listening level. The user will read the information on
each page and move from one page to another. At the end of each section,
there is a short quiz to verify that you have completed the training and
understand its contents. There is no requirement for passing the quiz however
you will receive a score upon completion of all of the sections. Your training
will be documented in our database.
